Laberge Group is proud to be a returning sponsor of the Capital District Future City Competition! Now in it’s 25th year, the Future City Competition increases public awareness and appreciation for the engineering and urban planning professions. On an annual basis the competition looks to engage middle school students interested in math, science and technology with hopes of shaping tomorrow’s workforce.
Every year, the Future City Competition introduces a theme, with an engineering problem that students are asked to solve. This year’s theme is “The Power of Public Space”. Students are asked to design innovative, multi-use public spaces that serves a city’s diverse population.
Teams from 37 regions across the country will present their ideas to solve this year’s engineering problem at Regional Competitions in January. Winners represent their regions at the National Finals in Washington, DC in February.
The 2016-17 regional competition will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Proctors Theater in Schenectady.
