READINESS IS THE KEY
The State will commit these funds to the communities most in need AND most prepared to utilize the funds WELL and QUICKLY to benefit the economy. As stated in the funding announcement, Governor Hochul is looking to “advance shovel ready projects that put people to work.”

Preparing to be a viable funding candidate may require having initiated or completed indicators of project readiness such as:

  • Engineering reports
  • Environmental reviews (SEQR)
  • Financing plan and bond resolutions
  • District formation

FOR WATER FUNDING

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE…

The Governor has also proposed a $1 billion increase to the NY Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (NYWIIA), which she proposes to rename the “Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act.” That additional investment would increase the total investable funds to $4 billion – and the inclusion of the term “Green Jobs” in the name of the legislation is another indication that the State will be scouring applications for PROOF rather than statements of project readiness to put New Yorkers to work as soon as possible.

Set your application up for success by getting the ball rolling on project readiness with engineering reports, environmental reviews, and/or financing resolutions. We can help you determine the mix that will put your community in a strong and competitive position for grant success.
