Construction Update – Bridge Construction
Schodack, New York
When a flooding event in 2022 washed out the bridge to the Town of Schodack’s water plant, a temporary bridge was quickly put in place. Laberge Group coordinated with the contractor and permitting agencies to move quickly on installation of a temporary bridge span to maintain access to this critical infrastructure. Construction of a permanent replacement has been completed.
This corrugated metal structural plate design served to reduce construction costs and expand the span width across the river to better accommodate large stream flows moving forward. Laberge Group was pleased to have been part of the professional and responsive team working on the new bridge, providing surveying services, permitting coordination, bidding services, construction administration, and construction observation.
Flow diversion during the construction process was a concern due to frequent high water. The diversion plan shown below was implemented to temporarily redirect flow during construction.
