The New York State Office of Community Renewal is still issuing Community Development Block Grants Economic Development funding (CDBG-ED) to support economic development initiatives. The program provides funds to projects that result in quality, well-paying, fulltime and fulltime equivalent jobs that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. The Economic Development funding is flexible and can be used to fund equipment purchases and business expansion investments that will lead to increased employment opportunities and training for low- and moderate-income members of the community and surrounding area.
Laberge Group has recently partnered with a number of communities in New York State to procure CDBG Economic Development funding that has served to stimulate their local economies while making a direct positive impact on the lives of many of their residents.
CDBG-ED Grant Application, Administration, and Program Delivery
Village of Canastota, NY
Laberge Group partnered with the Village of Canastota to apply for and successfully secure $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant Economic Development (CDBG-ED) funding to enable Dutchland Plastics, LLC to expand production through the purchase of equipment needed to meet current and projected demand. The additional production capacity enabled by the purchase of this equipment connected the citizens of Canastota and the Central New York region with meaningful employment by contributing to the retention of 27 jobs and the creation of an additional 41 jobs.
CDBG-ED Grant Application and Consulting
Saranac Lake Resport, LLC
Laberge Group partnered with Saranac Lake Resort, LLC to provide consulting services in conjunction with a successful application for $750,000 in CDBG Economic Development funding, which enabled the developer to acquire furniture, fixtures, and equipment necessary to equip and appoint guest rooms, common areas, and service areas. These CDBG-ED funds were an essential component of the funding that allowed the firm to proceed with the development of the resort, which has become an economic engine for the area, creating 71 full-time equivalent jobs (the majority of which would benefit low and moderate-income individuals) and contributing to the bottom-line of neighboring vendors and local businesses.
CDBG-ED Grant Application, Administration, and Program Delivery
Columbia County, NY
Laberge Group successfully partnered with Columbia County to secure $300,000 in Economic Development grant funding through a NYS CDBG Economic Development grant. This funding will be used to help establish the Drumlin Field Distillery in the Town of Claverack, NY. This complex, sited on a 182 acre farm, will include a distillery, tasting rooms, offices, and warehouse. The Economic Development grant funding will be used to purchase machinery and equipment necessary for the brandy distilling process. In addition to the economic benefit of attracting tourists to the distillery’s tasting rooms, the project will also provide 25 new job opportunities to low- and medium-income residents of Columbia County.
Laberge Group is proud to have been part of these important job-creation and economic development initiatives that will change lives and improve their communities for years to come!
