Villages of Macedon and Port Henry File Citizen-Initiated Village Dissolution Petition
Laberge Group was retained by the Village of Macedon and the Village of Port Henry to assist them with their dissolution processes.
The Village of Macedon held a referendum to dissolve the Village through a Citizen-Initiated Dissolution Petition. The Dissolution Plan, completed by Laberge Group, outlined the Village’s local government structure and services, and the preferred options for transfer of services upon dissolution. The objective was to provide critical information for residents and officials to make informed decisions about the future of the Village. Laberge Group also created a website specific for the Village’s Dissolution Plan, click here to view it.
A citizens-initiated petition for a public vote on the dissolution of the Village of Port Henry was submitted and approved. Laberge Group recognized the unique challenges, heightened emotions, and tight time-frame that was involved in reacting to the filing of the petition for dissolution under the “N.Y. Government Reorganization and Citizen Empowerment Act.”
Prior to the referendum on whether to dissolve, Laberge Group worked with the Village of Port Henry to provide educational information on the dissolution process in order for residents and officials to make informed decisions about the future of the Village. With an unbiased and balanced review of existing government, Laberge Group completed the Interim Dissolution Plan, specific to understanding the process and findings associated with dissolution.
