Town of Schodack, NEW YORK
Water system EXPANSION Route 9 South

Laberge Group was retained by the Town of Schodack to extend municipal water services along five miles of Route 9 South. The project connects to the existing water main near the Amazon Distribution Center and extends services to the southern Town and County border. The first phase of this project included the installation of approximately 26,500 linear feet of water main. The first phase of this project included the installation of approximately 26,500 linear feet of water main, 24 valves and 43 water hydrants. The second phase involves the construction of a 500,000 gallon water storage tank, along with approximately 4,400 linear feet of watermain connecting to Phase 1.
The extension improves public health and safety by providing individual homes and businesses that had been dependent on private water wells with access to safe, potable, and reliable municipal drinking water, and provides hydrant fire protection.
Extending the municipal water service to this area is important as it will allow future business development along the busy corridor that already includes Amazon and Hannaford Distribution Centers. The Route 9 stretch is close to Interstate 90 ramps, and is centrally located within a reasonable driving distance from New York City; Boston, MA; Rochester; Syracuse and neighboring northeast states.
