TOWN OF OLIVE, NEW YORK
FACILITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Facility Needs Assessment Architecture New York State Capitol Region

Laberge Group was engaged to prepare a Facility Needs Assessment for the Town of Olive. Recognizing the importance of understanding the condition and space requirements of its current facilities and to guide the process of planning for future enhancements, the Town requested assessments of each of its major buildings: the Town Hall, Court/Police Building, Highway Facilities Building, and Salt Shed.

This assessment consisted of the following:

  • A visual review of each of these facilities to assess code, energy, and best practice deficiencies with the building envelopes and identify siting, functional, or operational issues necessary to meet projected future demand.
  • An analysis of the future space needs for Town Administration, Court, and Police Departments.
  • Development of viable and implementable options to address identified facility needs and deficiencies.

The final Facility Needs Assessment presented the Town with a number of options for a Capital Improvement Program that would bring the buildings into compliance with current building codes. The recommended improvements would also improve the operational, functional, and energy efficiencies of the physical space for each of the departments, user groups, and affiliated services currently housed in or utilizing these facilities. Once implemented, these improvements were intended to meet the Town’s needs for the next 20 years.
