TOWN OF BOONVILLE, NEW YORK
SALT AND SAND BUILDING ENGINEERING & GRANT ADMINISTRATION
Laberge Group was retained to provide engineering and grant administration services associated with building a new salt and sand storage building for the Town of Boonville, NY. The Town was awarded a Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) grant for the design and construction of the building. Previously, salt and sand had been stored in the open within the protection radius of a municipal wellhead and the Black River Canal. Storing this material within a building at the Boonville highway facility serves to protect both the canal and a vital municipal water source from salt and sand runoff.
Services provided by Laberge Group included:
- WQIP grant administration services
- Coordinating a topographic survey
- Developing a site plan
- Providing services related to completion of the required SEQRA Full Environmental Assessment Form.
In addition, Laberge Group specified construction details that met a high standard, which included a recommendation to increase the wall loading design criteria to extend the longevity of the wall system. During the final phase of the project, Laberge Group managed the construction bidding process, which included:
- Preparing plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Assessing submitted bids
- Making a bid award recommendation
